Data notes

These charts summarise data published daily by the UK Government regarding cases, deaths and healthcare provision related to Covid-19.

Monmouth’s analytics platform poles data daily, meaning that the analysis provided on this site is continually updated to reflect the most recently available data.

Definitions used are as follows:
Cases – relate to people with at least one lab-confirmed positive COVID-19 test result and in this sequence relate to date published not specimen date. Individuals tested positive more than once are only counted once, on the date of their first positive test.
Deaths – in these charts relate to deaths within 28 days of a positive test.
Healthcare provision – these charts focus on total patients in hospital and patients occupying mechanical ventilation beds.
Age breakdown and incidence rates – use the rates per 100,000 published by the UK Government which are based on census population estimates.
